On May 16, Mien Dong University of Technology (MIT University) reported on its prominent activities and its aim of becoming an international university by 2025 at the meeting with Dong Nai Province’s leaders.
MIT University is progressing toward a model of innovative university
The delegation visiting MIT University included Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Dong Nai Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Son Hung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province, and leaders of departments, divisions of the province.
At the working session with Dong Nai province’s leaders, MIT University reported on its notable activities and suggestions. Apart from its concerns for digital transformation and quality assurance, Mien Dong University of Technology gave leaders of Dong Nai province suggestions about training high-quality human resources for the development of Vietnam’s southern key economic region. The university said in its proposal that it hopes Dong Nai authorities to make favorable conditions for its expansion of training, research, and practice facilities. Moreover, the university also wants to cooperate with departments and divisions in training high-quality human resources for Long Thanh international airport, etc.
MIT University has a vision for an international university that offers various fields in which, engineering, technology, high-tech agriculture, and health sciences are the key fields.
In recent years, Mien Dong University of Technology has made impressive progress thanks to its innovation and support from the local authorities. The Mien Dong University of Technology would be a training institution for high-quality personnel with skills, knowledge, and creativity of the country, especially for the southern key economic region and Dong Nai province. It is expected that in the academic year 2022-2023, the university will offer Nursing, Artificial Intelligence, and Aviation Engineering to supply high-quality human resources for the Long Thanh airport project. Notably, MIT University would be an international university by 2025.
Vice-Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Nai province Nguyen Son Hung proposed that the university should have a roadmap for its training quality assurance. For digital transformation, it is essential for the university to follow the Government's directions, the digital transformation plans, and objectives of the province, especially Resolution No. 05 (March 28, 2022) of the Party Committee on the digital transformation of Dong Nai province to 2025 and its orientations to 2030.

The university also reported to the local authorities on the progress of its project of expansion and upgrading campus which would be a large, beautiful, and modern campus in the South. The university has been strongly invested in its facilities following the innovative model on an area of 10ha and a total construction floor area of 76,129 m2. The new campus has 80 classrooms, 12 laboratories equipped with modern machinery, a dormitory, a digital library, football fields, volleyball courts, a basketball court, fitness equipment, etc., making an ideal learning environment for students.
At the same time, the university signed an MoU with Siemens-AG Group (Germany) to build 4.0 a smart laboratory for research on Automotive technology and Aviation Engineering worth nearly VND90 billion. The smart lab will transform the training form which helps lecturers transfer knowledge and skills to students through simulation tools, offering opportunities for students to study on their own thanks to the flexibility in adjustment and configuration of the digital models.
Regarding the recommendations of MIT university, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province will issue a document requesting the relevant units to cooperate with the university to speed up the project, contributing to socialization in education.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh, Secretary of the Dong Nai Party Committee, said that it is vital to focus on education and training to implement the orientation of reconstruction of the economic model of the province. Dong Nai's potential for human resource training is huge thanks to its transportation advantages. He proposed that MIT University’s majors and its orientations are appropriate. At the same time, Linh also suggested that the university should pay more attention to training following majors, such as Tourism and Human Resources for Long Thanh airport, High-tech Agriculture, and human resources for social activities.
